Plasticine Tatooine

Plasticine Tatooine is a 100% unofficial and completely made up collection of intergalactic nonsense featuring some of the more rubbish Star Wars characters sculpted lovingly from plasticine by my own fair hand. Find out more here www.plasticinetatooine.com

Faces on badges

I noticed the deadline for the stereohype annual badge fest was fast approaching so I thought I'd sneak these three faces under the wire so to speak.

Get Stuffed comedy logo

This is a logo I drew quite a few years back for Get Stuffed which is an excellent comedy club in Tring. If you're wondering why the logo is made of stuffed animals, that's because Tring's other main attraction is this bonkers museum full of stuffed animals (and hence the side-splitting strap line).

The reason I've decided to put it on the blog now is because I've just finished an eight week stand-up comedy course culminating in my first gigs in front of actual paying punters. Read all about it here. The first two of my four planned gigs went well but then I got a call to say my partner had gone into labour with our second child and was now fully dilated so I had to make a 30 minute drive to hospital to get there in time for the birth - I did make it but only after driving like Steve McQueen (except in a Toyota Yaris!)

Anyway, I really enjoyed the two sets I did manage so I'm hoping to do more soon but if you're ever in the area check out Get Stuffed as they attract some great established and up-and-coming acts and their Tringe Festival is currently in full flow with some top nights still to come.

A new season awaits.

The fixtures for next season have been released, hard to believe it all starts again in just over a month. Here is a short post (written before Claude left) detailing exactly what I would like from the Town next season over on fellow illustrator, Debra Orton's blog. Above is a picture of Sir Michael of Harfordshire just because.

Zombie Valentine's Linocut

Now available to buy as Tshirts from WeLoveFine.com

Cruising my local Clinton Cards in the weeks before Valentine's Day I noticed a cavernous gap in the market. There are all sorts of slushy teddy bear and bunny rabbit cards available but I couldn't find any that feature reanimated corpses or internal organs being eaten.
As I was sure that there must be a huge market for this kind of card I immediately set about rectifying the situation through the medium of linocut.
Pictures of the process (I'd forgotten how laborious linocutting is not to mention how high the risk of hand gouging is) along with the three finished hand coloured prints can be seen below.

2010 - an eggy montage

In 2010 I painted lots of footballers on to boiled eggs for The Times' World Cup campaign. They were a real success and appeared everywhere during the summer months unlike the real England football team who cracked and lasted just a couple of weeks in South Africa. Click here for a better view.

I've just finished my 2010 Christmas card featuring a festive FOTC band meeting. There is a high resolution version if you click on this image, please feel free to download and make your own card.

Enjoy and have a cracking Christmas.

UPDATE
Murray Hewitt himself, the great Rhys Darby has seen the card and tweeted it to his followers, I'm starstruck!

Peter Siddle

A quick sketch of the Aussie bowler who knocked the stuffing out of England yesterday. Painted by finger using the Brushes app on my iPhone. The app has a cool feature which records all of your brush strokes and allows you to replay them as an animation - see below.

Ultra limited edition Ashes screen prints

Today I spent an extremely enjoyable day re-learning how to screen print (a noble art which I last practised back when I was at school) courtesy of Print Club's excellent beginners workshops.

Above are a few shots of the fruits of my labour – a set of my 2010-11 Ashes drawings which are now available to buy.

The A4 prints are hand drawn, hand printed, hand trimmed (with Andrew Strauss' bat breaking out of the image) and hand signed in a ridiculously small run of just 20.

The prints are a chocolate brown ink on an off-white 300gsm paper. Each print is unique, none of them are perfect but I think the flaws only add to the retro Wisden's feel that I was after.

Each print costs £10 including P&P – email me at elliott.quince@ntlworld.com if you are interested.

UPDATE
All the prints have now been sold – sorry to those of you who emailed and didn't manage to get one.
