Colourful keepers

2014 World Cup wallchart featuring Rene Higuita and Jorge Campos Next up, taking pride of place on my wallchart, are a couple of the 1990's craziest keepers.
On the left is René Higuita, Columbia's 'Sweeper keeper'. Higuita was famous for scoring free kicks, his habit of leaving his goal to dribble the ball up the pitch and also his trademark Scorpion kick . Here is 'El Loco' in probably his most infamous World Cup moment back in 1990.
Next to him is Jorge Campos who played between the sticks for Mexico in the 1994 World Cup in USA. Flamboyant Campos was also partial to a stroll up the pitch but is probably better known for his (self-designed) headache-inducing kits.

Zaïre's crazy defensive wall from 1974

2014 World Cup wall chart zaire 1974 Mwepu Ilunga Brazil were shaping up to take a free kick in their group match against Zaïre, but the African defender Mwepu Ilunga had other ideas. Before the referee had signalled for the free kick to be taken, Ilunga decided to break free from the end of the Zaïre wall, run to the ball and boot it as far as he could. Brazil ended up winning 3-0 and Ilunga earned himself a booking in probably one of the funniest moments in World Cup history – watch it here.

Milton Jones made out of Sculpey

Here's a model of the comedian Milton Jones that I've just finished. It's my first experiment using the modelling material Super Sculpey.
This is a test piece for something I'm thinking about doing for this year's Tringe Comedy
Festival - last year I made these 'stand up stand ups'.
Below the finished painted model of Milton are a couple of process shots showing the baked model being sanded and then given a coat of primer. There may or may not be more, I'm not sure!

EasyJet in-flight magazine cover

I was recently commissioned to illustrate the front cover of the January issue of Traveller, EasyJet's in-flight magazine. The issue featured a story on diving and yoga holidays in Egypt so I was asked to create a heiroglyphic based illustration using plasticine.
Below are some process shots plus an article on the making of the cover that also featured in the issue.
